Dear all KY Chinese teachers,

My name is Yan Wang, current president of KY Association of Chinese Language Teachers (KACLT). At first , I would like warmly welcome all visitor teachers from China and new local teachers to join the Chinese teaching field at Kentucky. And wish you and your family a happy Mid- Autumn Festival.

You've already probably received a couple of reminders from KWLA to register for our upcoming annual conference, from Sept. 22-24 in Lexington. I'm adding my voice to the mix to let you know what the conference has to offer you as a Chinese teacher.

There will be 5 sessions presented by Chinese professions. Please find out Huajing Maske, Janna Chiang, Yan Wang, Na Hu and Yiping Zhang’s names on the conference program and attend their sessions. Plus there will be other sessions relevant to state language festival, world language program review and effective teaching strategies.
We will have a "language luncheon" (previously "swap shop") on Friday, Sep. 23, for knowing each other and sharing teaching ideas. As a tradition, an immersion dinneris scheduled for that evening. Saturday morning will be our annual association business meeting, at which time we'll announce our very first KY Chinese teacher of the year award and discuss future professional development plan. All Chinese teachers are invited to these events.

You will receive emails about membership from our treasure Kit Nadeau, and details about the immersion dinner from me next week.

It's important that we support our new teachers as much as possible. If you know of any new Chinese teachers in your region, could you please let me know--and forward this message to them?

Looking forward to seeing you at the conference!

Yan Wang
President, KACLT
