Summer Job Opportunity: Instructors of Chinese

Crane House – The Asia Institute, in collaboration with UofL and JCPS, is seeking applicants for four Instructors of Chinese for a federal –funded STARTALK intensive program from July 9 through July 27, 2012 in Louisville, Kentucky. Successful candidates must have native or near native fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English. Other qualifications include experience of teaching Chinese as a foreign language in an English-speaking environment, strong background in Chinese culture, familiarity with Chinese language pedagogy, including simplified character forms and pinyin, and strong interpersonal skills and comfort in working with middle and high school students and their parents. Experience in computer-assisted instruction and/or instructional technology is desirable. We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated instructors to create a strong, funlanguage learning environment. Successful candidates are mandated to attend a pre-program teaching training workshop from June 25 to June 29, 2012 provided by Crane House. For Full Time Upper School Mandarin Chinese teacher beginning August 2012:

St. Paul Academy and Summit School seeks candidates for the position of Upper School Mandarin Chinese Teacher. This is a full-time, long-term position beginning in late August, 2012. Candidates should possess the ability to teach the language from introductory through advanced (post-AP) levels. Ideally, candidates will have experience and formal training in language instruction. In addition, candidates should be able to advise students effectively and otherwise contribute to the life of the school outside the classroom.
